Timo Rissanen is co-curator of Yield: Making Fashion Without Making Waste with Holly McQuillian and is Assistant Professor of Fashion Design and Sustainability at New York's Parsons The New School for Design. He previously taught fashion design in Australia for seven years. From 2001 to 2004, he owned and designed for Usvsu, which in 2003 was the winner of the Mercedes-Benz Start-Up award at Mercedes-Benz Australian Fashion Week. Timo has presented at many international conferences and contributed a chapter to the book Sustainable Fashion. Why Now? In 2009, he co-curated Fashioning Now in Australia with Alison Gwilt, a venture which became the book Shaping Sustainable Fashion, for which he was co-editor. He designed and taught the first ever Zero Waste course at Parsons in 2010.
